Nice blog! Recently at at the NYLC (National Youth Leadership Council) Annual Convention, I learned that one critical piece of service learning is to use issues to move students to action. One activity I might recommend is to share a story of injustice and what was done to bring justice and challenge the students to apply this to their own situation and share the results over the course of the year. Young people across the nation are doing alot of service learning work around justice issues. I believe this could lead to some powerful and engaging work! Take care!

Mel and Jim,
I am glad to see you get this up and going! You have done some incredible work in Nashville around reengaging disengaged youth and empowering them to be valuable members of their community. You guys continue to impress me and inspire me in the way that you walk the walk. Thanks for all that you do to make this world a better place!
